Tottenham want midfielder loan

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating entering into the market in an attempt to sign a brand new midfielder on loan as a result of the injuries which they’ve had piling up as of late.

Moussa Sissoko will be out for up to three months with a knee issue, Tanguy Ndombele’s fitness remains a mystery, and Eric Dier has also spent time on the shelf.

Victor Wanyama doesn’t seem to be someone that Jose Mourinho is all too invested in, either, with Harry Winks therefore being the only remaining central midfielder than can be relied upon.

Mourinho may be viewed as a defensive manager by many, but even the man himself knows that this Spurs team needs a stronger presence through the middle to really help the c…

Juventus 0-1 Atalanta: Zapata inflicts more woe on struggling Bianconeri

Juventus fell further off the pace in Serie A as they slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Atalanta.

Massimiliano Allegri s side were thumped 4-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday and were unable to respond with a victory at Allianz Stadium.

Duvan Zapata netted the decisive goal midway through the first half, taking advantage of sloppy Juve defending to hammer in his ninth league goal of the season.

Paulo Dybala was inches away from rescuing a point in stoppage time with a wicked free-kick that hit the crossbar, but Juve ultimately suffered a fifth league defeat of the 2021-22 campaign.

Earlier, Dybala s 10th-minute effort straight at Juan Musso punctuated an aggressive start from Atalanta, who twice went close in the opening stages, and it wa…

New Chelsea boss Tuchel makes big admission: Yes, I was a Spurs fan!

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he was a Tottenham fan as a boy but insists he now only has eyes for Chelsea.

The new Blues head coach had his formal presentation on Thursday, after taking over from the sacked Frank Lampard.

Tuchel was brought up in the Bavarian town of Krumbach in the 1970s and 1980s, when sport on television was scarcely seen, and he puts it down to youthful naivety that he happened to support Tottenham.

The ages-old enmity between Tottenham and Chelsea means Tuchel cannot afford to have split loyalties now, and he insists his days of idolising Spurs stars have long gone.

When I was young there was no daily match live on TV and no daily live match from the Bundesliga, said Tuchel. What I could actually see was one or two mi…

Fleetwood owner Andy Pilley loses civil court fight with council

A businessman and football club owner convicted of fraudulent trading has lost a civil court fight with a council involved in investigating allegations of mis-selling.

Andy Pilley, owner of League One side Fleetwood and chairman of BES Utilities, had been involved in High Court litigation with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

BES Utilities and a number of other utility firms based in the Fleetwood and Blackpool areas of Lancashire had sued the council.

They made a number of complaints – including an allegation of misfeasance and an allegation that search warrants were obtained unlawfully.

Council bosses denied all allegations and a High Court judge has ruled in their favour.

Mr Justice Freedman has dismissed claims made against the council.

Guardiola doesn´t believe Klopp has given up on the title and likens City, Liverpool to Nadal

Pep Guardiola does not believe Jurgen Klopp has given up on the Premier League title race and says Manchester City and Liverpool have changed the standards in England s top flight, much like Rafael Nadal in tennis.

Klopp s Liverpool are nine points adrift of reigning champions City, albeit the Reds have a game in hand over their sensational rivals.

As well as that extra game, Liverpool still have to face City again in the league in April, as the two most dominant teams in the division over the past few seasons again battle it out alone for supremacy.

However, when asked about Liverpool s pursuit of City by BT Sport after beating Leicester City 2-0 on Thursday, Klopp laughed and replied: I don t think they smell our breath already, but we just try to win football …

West Ham could re-sign Jesse Lingard

The deadline for naming the 25-man squad for the Premier League campaign is gone, but West Ham only put 24 names on their list, which means they could add a 25th at any point. It seems that they re keeping the slot open for the possibility of bringing back Jesse Lingard, who spent the second half of 2020/21 there, on loan from Manchester United.

Lingard played for Nottingham Forest last season, and as that contract expired at the end of June, he s now a free agent and has been training with the Hammers intensively. As revealed by West Ham boss David Moyes, the 30-year-old forward is still to get to the level of fitness expected at a Premier League club, but the signs are promising and the doors for his return to the London Stadium remain open.

He s in really good condi…

Poyet ´surprised´ by Kane´s Bayern Munich transfer

Harry Kane s transfer to Bayern Munich came as a surprise to former Tottenham player and assistant boss Gus Poyet.

Kane completed a switch to the Bundesliga champions last week, signing a four-year deal in Munich.

That came after Bayern had finally struck an £86.4million (€100m) deal with Tottenham for the 30-year-old, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season.

The England captain made his debut in Bayern s 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup after saying he moved to Germany to win trophies.

For Poyet, the move was a shock, however, especially after Kane failed to seal a transfer to Manchester City in 2021.

I was surprised at Kane leaving because I said it, and I m not going to change my mind, two years ago I thought it was the t…
